2012 Humanitarian Awards Reception

Kidsbridge Honored Outstanding Community Service at Sixth Annual Humanitarian Awards Reception and Silent Auction on November 8, 2012.

The Sixth Annual Kidsbridge Humanitarian Awards Celebration and Silent Auction was held on Thursday, November 8, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:30 pm at the beautiful Trenton Country Club. The event honored three business leaders for their humanitarian efforts on behalf of our community. Each of these deserved honorees has made significant contributions to both Kidsbridge and to the greater Mercer County area.

Kidsbridge wishes to thank all the individuals who braved the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Sandy to attend this event. The evening was very special. The three honorees each made heartfelt speeches, sharing their own personal experiences and explaining why they each supported the Kidsbridge mission and programs.

Al Maghazhe

Al Maghazhe of Capital Health shared that he was bullied as a child and had a tough time growing up – as did others in his neighborhood. Al felt he was fortunate and felt the reason that he was able to succeed was because he had a good support system and had an adult that personally challenged him to do something positive with his life.

Pamela Pruitt of WIMG and Rutgers University said that over the course of her life she’s seen people treating one another poorly – and for seemingly no reason at all. She still sees it now, even as an adult. Pamela expressed that she wished an organization like Kidsbridge would have been available to everyone to provide guidance and assistance during those difficult times.

Rachel Stark

Rachel Stark of Stark & Stark got involved with Kidsbridge as the mother of young children who didn’t want her kids to be bullied and wanted to learn strategies for dealing with bullying. Remembering her own childhood experiences and seeing kids get picked on and called names, Rachel hoped to lessen the pain for her boys. Rachel got involved and ended up capably and passionately serving as Kidsbridge’s Board Chair for six years!

Each speech was heartfelt and special, and all in attendance appreciated the candor shared by these humanitarians. Congratulations to them all!

The first-time venue for this event, The Trenton Country Club, provided a wonderful backdrop for the presentation, allowing for plenty of seating for all yet providing an intimate and caring environment. The food and drinks were delicious, and there seemed to be something for everyone. The Silent Auction was successful, and the Blind Gift Card and Wine Grab Bags added a new, fun twist to the auction. To all the dedicated volunteers, the fantastic Kidsbridge family, and happy guests, thank you for your love and support!
