Suggestions for classroom use of “The Note”

Geared for grades 7 & 8 (through 12), on our Video Channel are seven ‘bully interviews’ that comprise “The Note” — a short play about bullying written to prompt discussion on its complex nature.

The action in the play is initiated by a cruel note that is passed from student to student. While the note provides narrative structure for the story, teachers may choose to use individual student’s testimonies on their own. The play is punctuated periodically by a question or questions appearing on the screen. This version (breakdown) of the play includes additional questions to discuss or to be used as writing prompts.
