In January 2006, Kidsbridge created the Tolerance Museum (a.k.a. learning lab) on campus at The College of New Jersey. The Tolerance Museum features “Face to Face: Dealing with Prejudice and Discrimination,” an exhibit created by the Chicago Children’s Museum that focuses on diversity appreciation and tolerance.
Since this exhibit opened, the Tolerance Museum experience has been enjoyed by 9,100 visiting students and educators. More than 3,000 TCNJ college students (future leaders in education, psychology, interactive media, sociology, counseling, LGBT and religious diversity services, and community services) have volunteered their time. More than 25 TCNJ professors have made these connections possible by over-seeing these students.
In addition, retired educators regularly volunteer from the local Mercer County communities.
Since the Kidsbridge Tolerance Museum is on a college campus, we also share information about the importance of higher education with the visiting elementary and middle school youth.
There is no other youth tolerance museum in the U.S. that does what Kidsbridge does. And the unique partnership between our non-profit and the college enables both parties to benefit and to excel.
